Patricia McCracken has an MA in French and Spanish from the University of Cambridge and worked as an investment banker before becoming a multi-awardwinning writer. She wrote consumer columns for various magazines for 30 years. She has received about 40 reporting award credits in fields such as personal finance, consumer, business, ICT, health and environment. These include an investigation into the dangers of paraffin stoves that helped change SA law.
She is the editor of Veld & Flora, the magazine of the Botanical Society of South Africa. As well as contributing to consumer advice guides, she has also published in both botanical history and Irish history. Her co-written history of the Irish Anti-Apartheid Movement is due for publication in mid-2023.
